On Lap 47, Dexter Stacey clipped Perkins' Chevrolet Camaro, sending him airborne and barrel-rolling down the straight, with his car shedding several components before coming to rest. Stacey, also driving a Camaro, veered in the opposite direction and clouted the inside wall, with the race being red-flagged shortly afterwards. Despite the severity of the wreck, both Perkins and Stacey were able to extricate themselves from their cars without assistance.
