Drivers unhurt after dramatic NASCAR crash

Blaine Perkins walked away from a huge crash in which his car flipped at least six times during Saturday's NASCAR Xfinity Series race at the Talladega Superspeedway.

On Lap 47, Dexter Stacey clipped Perkins' Chevrolet Camaro, sending him airborne and barrel-rolling down the straight, with his car shedding several components before coming to rest.

Stacey, also driving a Camaro, veered in the opposite direction and clouted the inside wall, with the race being red-flagged shortly afterwards.

Despite the severity of the wreck, both Perkins and Stacey were able to extricate themselves from their cars without assistance.

NASCAR officials said Stacey was evaluated and released from the on-site medical centre, while Perkins was taken to a local hospital for further evaluation.
