The "egg-laying" cliff in China confused the scientific world: It lays once every 30 years

Image
A small cliff in China "lays" egg-shaped stones every 30 years , surprising scientists. Locals in the Jiannan Autonomous Prefecture in southwestern China’s Guizhou Province were amazed to see smooth and rounded stone eggs that protrude from the cliffs and then fall to the ground. The cliff is named Chan Da Ya (San Dan Nhai), which means “egg-laying cliff” in Chinese. Chan Da Ya cliff takes 30 years to “lay strange stone eggs”. This cliff has puzzled geologists for decades. Although there have been many theories and scientific explanations, no one has given the most accurate and convincing answer. This 2.4m high and 19m long cliff is like most other cliffs. The strange thing is that emerging in the middle of the rough cliff face are smooth circular convex surfaces of different sizes. Over time, these “egg stones” are getting bigger and bigger, gradually exposed and when they can’t stick to the wall...

Meet the world’s largest Land Crab that may have eaten Amelia Earhart Alive

Image
The coconut crab – the world’ s largest land crab – can weigh over 4 kg (8.8 lbs) and span nearly a meter (3 feet) across. This guy can rip open a coconut with its power-claws, and it can also climb trees (ouch)! And, it could be the animal that devoured Amelia Earhart… “Monstrous.” That was the word that left Charles Darwin’s lips when he first saw a coconut crab. And indeed, it’s no ordinary crab. It’s strong enough to carry more than six times its own weight. In Darwin’s days, there were rumors that the crabs could climb trees and dangle from them for hours on a single pincer, holding on by nothing more than a single pincer-like some massive overgrown spider. There were stories that their claws were so strong that they could break through a coconut. And there were stories that they could tear a human being apart, limb by limb. Darwin didn’t believe most of these rumors, but in the end they turne...
