The Los Angeles Dodgers will host the Toronto Blue Jays for Game one of their interleague series this Monday from Dodger Stadium.

Toronto enters at 55-45  after dropping two of three to Seattle. The Toronto offense is scoring 4.85 runs per Game, while batting .262, with a .329 on-base percentage. The pitching staff carries a 4.03 ERA, with a 1.25 WHIP. Bo Bichette is uncharacteristically hitless over his last four Games, but he leads the team in hits (130), with splits of .311/16/53. Vlad Guerrero Jr. homered in the final two Games in Seattle, and he leads Toronto in RBI (64), with seventeen homers. George Springer has collected a hit in seven of the last ten Games, and he’s posting a line of .264/13/41.

Jose Berrios (8-7, 3.39 ERA, 114  Ks) will get the ball for Toronto. The eighth-year righty pitched well against the Padres last week, tying a season-high with nine strikeouts in six innings of work, while allowing just two runs, but he still ended up taking the loss. Berrios has been pretty reliable since the start of May, but this spot in LA could present a real test for him. Berrios first trip to California didn’t go well back in April, as he gave up six runs to the Angels, and he’ll seek different results here.

Dodgers Betting Preview       

Los Angeles moved to 57-41 after taking two of three from Texas. The Los Angeles offense is scoring 5.04 runs per Game, while batting .248, with a .330 on-base percentage. The pitching staff carries a 4.50 ERA, with a 1.28 WHIP. Freddie Freeman has multiple hits in five of the last six Games, and he leads the Dodgers in BA (.328) and hits (129), with 20 HR and 70 RBI. Mookie Betts recorded a hit in all three Games in Texas, and he leads the team in home runs (26), with 67 RBI. J.D. Martinez has produced a run in seven of the previous Games, brought in seven runs thru two matchups with Texas, and he leads LAD in RBI (73), with 24 homers. Max Muncy has produced a run in four straight Games, and he’s up to 23 home runs and 59 RBI for the season.

Michael Grove (2-2, 6.40 ERA, 30 Ks) will get the ball for Los Angeles. The sophomore pitcher returned to action with a solid effort in Baltimore, holding them to one run through five innings en route to his second straight win. Grove’s outing against the O’s could be an encouraging sign going forward, but he’s allowed four runs in five of his last eight starts, and Toronto could give him some trouble.

Toronto is 48-49 ATS this year, with a 51-40-8 over/under record. LA Dodgers are 55-42 against the spread this season, with a 56-36-5 O/U record.

Toronto enters Game one with a slight advantage on the mound, but I believe both sides find their way to production in this one. The Dodgers may have to work a bit with Jose Berrios going for the Jays, while the visitors have a good chance of making Michael Grove uncomfortable here. And while maternal care experts have noted the improved health outcomes that come with midwifery care—less medical intervention and fewer C-sections—over 90% of midwives are white, highlighting how hard it is for Black women to find Black providers.
