WhatsApp boss warns millions of people about major security risk with rival chat app

The head of WhatsApp at Meta has released a statement warning millions of people about the security risk involved with downloading a rival app. Encrypted messaging app Telegram has been at the centre of multiple controversies over the years, including a number of hijacking schemes and claims of Russian spying leading to arrests - but netizens argue Meta’s comment is biased. “Telegram lacks real transparency most technology companies have adopted,” WhatsApp head Will Cathcart tweeted. Watch the latest News on Channel 7 or stream for free on 7plus >> “Telegram has the capacity to share nearly any confidential information a government requests,” he said, citing a Wired article. “Of course, I recognise that some will say I’m self-interested in critiquing Telegram.” Telegram was founded by billionaire Russian tech entrepreneurs Nikolai and Pavel Durov in 2013 to “challenge the primacy” of WhatsApp, according to app analysts Business of Apps, which reports there are currently 500 mil...

A New Pokemon Mystery Dungeon Might Be In Development

Last year was a pretty big one for Pokemon Game s, with both Pokemon: Legends Arecus and Pokemon Scarlet & Violet releasing to incredible commercial success. Despite that, 2022 was also the first year since 1997 that we didn't see the release of a Pokemon spin-off Game . It's unlikely that Nintendo will go two years on the bounce with no spin-offs, and fans think that Spike Chunsoft is gearing up to reveal a new Pokemon Mystery Dungeon Game in the coming weeks. First shared to the GamingLeaksAndRumors subreddit by Clemdoggy, the recently launched Pokemon Together page that has been set up to celebrate Pokemon Day on February 27 includes a Spike Chunsoft copyright in the data. For those unaware, Spike Chunsoft is the developer behind pretty much every Pokemon Mystery Dungeon Game , including the most recent Pokemon Mystery Dungeon: Red Rescue Team remake that launched back in 2020. Tencent Raked In $2.2 Billion From Honor Of Kings, Gets Further Game Approvals

The world's biggest games market continues to expand after a freeze as the regulator there has approved 87 new video game licenses. These licenses include titles for Tencent and NetEase, the country's two largest games companies, after the two were seemingly sanctioned by the government. The South China Morning Post reports that China approved 87 new game licenses in February, indicating a resumption of normality after the government clamped down on the tech and video games sector in the past two years. In China, game companies must gain a license from the National Press and Publication Administration in order to sell in the market. It is notable that Tencent, the world's largest video games company by revenue, is now receiving more such licenses. NBA Power Rankings: Mavericks, Nets move in opposite directions; Bucks stay No. 1, but Celtics, Cavs close

Whoever said "the more things change, the more they stay the same" clearly doesn't watch NBA basketball. The changes brought on by a frenzied period leading up to Thursday's trade deadline have drastically altered the league's landscape, with the Phoenix Suns catapulting to the top of the championship odds by acquiring two-time Finals MVP Kevin Durant from the Brooklyn Nets. We need to pump the brakes, however, when it comes to the Power Rankings, and try not to get suckered into assuming how teams are going to perform once their new players are in the fold. But, even looking at what teams have done on the court, trade deadline moves have already shown their effects. The Dallas Mavericks, for instance, jumped five spots after a couple of wins following the acquisition of point guard Kyrie Irving. The Nets, by contrast, dropped seven spots after parting ways with both Irving and Durant. ...

The Last Of Us' Bloater Costume Weighs 40 Kilograms

Spoiler warning for The Last of Us episode five, “Endure and Survive”. The Last of Us episode five was truly horrifying, in more ways than one. Whether it's Henry and Sam breaking your heart, or Kathleen scaring the hell out of you, Endure and Survive kept us on our toes throughout. But of course, the show still didn't feel that it had gone far enough, and had to throw a new big bad zombie at us towards the end too. Yep, as the previews suggested, the fifth episode marked the debut of the Bloater - a huge infected from the Game s. It looked beautifully terrifying, dominating the battlefield even as hundreds of others fought for survival in the streets of Kansas City. Yet no matter how hard it was to watch from home, no one would have been more uncomfortable than the actor actually playing the Bloater, as he was decked out in a costume that weighed roughly 40kg, or 6.3 stone. Star Wars Jedi: Survivor Mission Objective Confirms Greez Is Alive

A blurred mission objective in IGN's footage for Star Wars Jedi: Survivor confirms that Greez is alive and that Cal has come to the planet Koboh to look for him. Ever since Star Wars Jedi: Survivor was revealed, fans of the first Game have been wondering where two of their favourite characters are - Greez and Merrin. The first full trailer for the Game made a point of showing that Cal was Travel ling alone in the Mantis, which seemed strange considering how attached Greez was to his ship. Related: Star Wars Jedi: Survivor Needs To Double Down On The Dark Souls This, combined with the fact that the trailers were clearly trying to hide Merrin and Greez's whereabouts, made some fans worry that either of them had died in the years between Jedi: Fallen Order and Jedi: Survivor. Thankfully, as pointed out by Redditor Aikon505, a mission objective that's been blurred out in IGN's Game play footage of Koboh confirms that Greez is alive and that Cal is trying to find...

App offers regular iPhones virtual telephoto lens

With its first update for 2023, the Halide app has launched a "Neural Telephoto" feature for non-pro iPhone users. Regular iPhones have wide and ultrawide lenses with relatively poor zoom quality compared to telephoto lenses. Although the results will still not be exactly like that of a physical telephoto lens, they will still be better. Kevin Durant trade: Suns add former MVP for Bridges, Johnson, Crowder and four first-round picks, per report

The Phoenix Suns are closing in on a trade to land 2014 NBA MVP Kevin Durant from the Brooklyn Nets, according to The Athletic's Shams Charania. The Suns will send Mikal Bridges, Cam Johnson, Jae Crowder, four unprotected first-round picks and a 2028 pick swap to Brooklyn for Durant and T.J. Warren. Durant had previously asked for a trade during the offseason, but at the time, the Nets did not find a deal for him. He eventually agreed to rejoin the team. The Suns, at that point, were Durant's preferred destination. For most of the season, this sort of trade appeared to be unthinkable. The Nets looked like a championship contender after a bumpy start, going 18-2 in Durant's last 20 Health y Game s. Phoenix, meanwhile, hovered around .500 for much of the season while dealing with injuries to Chris Paul and Devin Booker. They've righted the ship in recent Game s, however, while Brooklyn has gone the ...
